Waterfalls

The Waterfalls around Luang Prabang are one of the must-do Activities. Enjoy your day at Kuang Si or Tad Sae Waterfalls, swim in the natural pools with turquoise water and experience the exotic jungle. Both Kuang Si and Tad Sae are reachable by Tuktuk or motorbike (1 hour drive). Right next to Kuang Si Waterfalls you also find a Bear Rescue Center and the Butterfly Center. All of these activities are also very suitable to do with kids!

Temples / Wats

There are 34 temples, 12 in the surrounding Peninsula of the Mekong Riverview Hotel. The whole day, you can observe the daily activities in the Wats.

Luang Prabang is renowned for it's beautiful Wats and we are lucky enough to have the famous Wat Xieng Thong as our neighbour, merely a few minutes walk from the hotel. Please dress appropriately.

Night Market

The famous Night Market of Luang Prabang showcases beautiful products of Laos ethnic groups. From lampshades made out of the Saa-paper, to silk scarves or wooden bowls you'll find souvenirs in good quality. The Night market is open daily from around 6 PM to 10 PM on the main road in front of the National Museum.

National Museum

The former royal palace was built in 1904 and features mixed elements of Lao and French Architecture. It was built for King Sisavang Vong and his family during the French colonial era. Today, you can visit the main house, as well as the royal car collection and the extensive premises. Please dress appropriately.

Mt. Phousi

The holy mountain in the center of town offers a spectacular view over Luang Prabang. It is best visited at sunrise or sunset. Don't undererstimate the steep stairs! It can be a very sweaty way up, but the view is worth it. There are two ways up, one in front of the National Museum and one along the Nam Khan River.

Pak Ou Cave

One of the most holy sites in Laos. In several caves you will find over 4000 Buddha icons and statues. Pak Ou Cave is only accessible by boat on the Mekong River, which takes roughly 1 hour from Luang Prabang. This trip can be combined with other activities, such as a visit to the Lao-Lao-Village (where the local "Whiskey" is made).
